vehicles were torched in the capital on Saturday on the eve of
nationwide dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the BNP-led 18-party alliance.Meanwhile, at least 10 cocktails went off at different places on the Dhaka University campus including in front of the residence of the vice-chancellor, campus sources said.
A bus was set on fire around 4:30pm in front of the Azimpur Girls' School, police said.
An official of Fire Service and Civil Defence said a group of unidentified miscreants set fire to a Kakrail-bound pick-up van of Globe Pharmaceutical Ltd near the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh around 3:15pm.
On information, two units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire, the official added.
Ten mobile courts will remain visitant during Sunday's hartal, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DMP, told The Daily Star.
