A Dhaka court on Friday placed Monir Uddin on a nine-day remand for his alleged involvement with throwing acid on an Eden College student.
Earlier in the morning, Monir admitted that he threw acid on Sharmin Akter Ankhi, a student of Eden College, as she had turned down his marriage proposal.
Victim's brother filed a case with Bangshal Police Station accusing Monir and his friend Masum for the acid attack on January 15.

A judge of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka granted the remand on Friday as Hasan Arafat, the senior assistant commissioner of Detective Branch of police and also the supervising officer of the case, came with a 10-day remand prayer.
Monir was arrested on Thursday at Kurkutichhari in Barkol upazila of Rangamati district.
After his arrest another case was filed with Barkol Police Station. The case was shifted to DB police on Friday.
Monirul Islam, deputy commissioner of DB, told reporters at a press briefing at DB office at Minto Road on Friday that Monir claimed that he and Akhi got married two years back but divorced six months ago.
DB arranged the press briefing a day after law enforcers arrested Monir at Barkol following a High Court directive.
The HC on January 20 directed the government to arrest Monir and another accused Masum.
Quoting Monir, the DB official on Friday said Monir with his friend Masum forcibly took Ankhi to a marriage registrar's office in the capital's Chankharpool on January 15. As she refused to marry Monir, the two threw acid on her and stabbed her, he said.
Ankhi is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
