Bodies from Bahrain arrive

The bodies of 13 Bangladeshi workers killed in a building fire in Bahrain on January 11 arrived in Dhaka Tuesday evening.
A flight of Emirates Airlines EK 838, carrying the bodies from Bahrain, landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 6:36pm.
The body of another Bangladeshi worker, Oli Ahmed, 28, of Chouddagram in Comilla, who died in a building collapse on December 31 last year in Bahrain, has also been brought back home in the same flight.
Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, expatriates' welfare and overseas employment minister, who is present at the airport, will hand the bodies over to their families.
The minister will also provide each of the families with Tk 35,000 for the burial.
The government will later give the families Tk 2 lakh each in compensation.
According to officials in the Bahraini capital Manama, 135 labourers, including the 13, lived in a building where no maintenance work had been carried out for 35 years, reported UAE newspaper Gulf News last week.
The fire swept through the labour camp, located in Manama, where most of the workers were from Bangladesh.
