in the Bay after colliding with another ship at outer anchorage of
Chittagong Port.
A lighter vessel capsized at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port Sunday morning. As the vessel sank at Alpha point in outer anchorage so the ship movements remain normal, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting Syed Farhad Uddin, secretary of Chittagong Port Authority.
Lighter vessel 'Chisti Shohan' went to the outer anchorage to unload 1,700 tonnes of steel coils from a mother vessel named 'Ipanema' in the morning, said Captain Faridul Alam, harbour master of Chittagong Port Authority.
When 'Chisti Shohan' was returning to the port, it sank into the Bay along with 14 crew around 10:00am, he said.
But all the crew managed to get on Ipanema as the sea was calm, Farhad Uddin said.
Reason behind the capsize could not be known immediately.
