A Dhaka court on January 15 will decide whether it would grant bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in two cases.
On January 3, the detained BNP leader was shown arrested in the two cases filed for blasting cocktails and assaulting policemen during the opposition's countrywide roadblock on December 9 last year.
A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent Fakhrul back to jail after rejecting his remand and bail petitions in the cases.
The court came up with the order on Wednesday as a lawyer of Fakhrul filed two bail petitions challenging the rejection order in the cases.
Judge (in-charge) Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court in Dhaka fixed the date on Wednesday acting on the bail petitions.
On December 11 last year, Fakhrul was sent to jail following the rejection of his remand and bail petitions in two other cases filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Paltan police stations for torching a car and blasting cocktails during the December 9 blockade.
The High Court on January 2 granted Fakhrul six months' ad interim bail in the two cases.
The opposition alliance enforced the blockade demanding restoration of the caretaker government system.
