Noakhali man dies from Friday bullet wound
The eight-hour long shutdown enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir ended peacefully in Noakhali and Satkhira districts on Saturday.No untoward incident was reported from the districts during the hartal hours.
Meanwhile, section 144 was continuing at Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali since 6:00pm Friday.
Similar ban was also continuing at two places -- municipalities under Satkhira Sadar and Sadar area of Asasuni upazila-- in Satkhira since 6:00am on Friday to avoid any violence by Jamaat-Shibir men.
Our Noakhali correspondent reports: The eight hour hartal that is progressing peacefully in the
district as no procession and picketing was seen since 6:00am till filing the report around 12:00pm.
Most of the roadside shops, educational institutions and offices remained open.
No long-distance buses left or entered the district.
Meanwhile, a man -- Korban Ali, 28, -- succumbed to his bullet wounds he sustained during a clash between law enforcers and Jamaat-Shibir men on Friday.
He died on way to a Dhaka hospital from Comilla.
Meanwhile, quoting Md Asaduzzaman, superintendent of police of Satkhira, our correspondent reported that a peaceful hartal is being observed in the district.
Most of the business institutions and roadside shops remained open during the hartal.
No long distance bus left or entered the district since morning while local buses, auto-rickshaws and rickshaws were seen plying the roads defying hartal.
The Jaamat-Shibir called the hartal protesting killing of 'its 7 activists' during a clash with police on Thursday in the district.
