2 robbers killed in Chandpur 'shootout'

Two robbers were killed in a 'shootout' between their cohorts and Rapid Action Battalion members in Kachua upazila of Chandpur early Saturday.
Chhoto Jamal, 40, and Shah Poran, 35, were members of an inter-district robber gang, said Abhishek Ahmed, deputy director of Legal and Media Wing of Rab.
The Rab official said a team of Rab-11 around 3:30am raided Doyti village where a gang of robbers were taking preparation for committing a robbery.

Sensing presence of the Rab team, the bandits opened fire at the elite force members, prompting them to fire back, he said.
Jamal and Poran came in the line of fire during the 'gunfight' and died on the spot, he added.
The Rab personnel recovered three firearms, five bullets and two sharp weapons from the spot.
Jamal was accused in five cases filed with Kachua Police Station and many other cases filed with other police stations across the country, reports our Chanpur correspondent quoting Md Alamgir Hossain Mazumder, officer-in-charge of the local police station.
