BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia left Dhaka on Saturday to visit the victims of a twister that tore through three upazilas of Brahmanbaria on March 22, killing 31 people.
The BNP chief started from her Gulshan residence around 11:30am, party sources said.
Party senior leaders including Selima Rahman, Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Mirza Abbas are accompanying her.
During the visit, the opposition leader will meet the affected people and distribute relief to them.
On March 22, a 15-munite tornado lashed 20 villages of Brahmanbaria Sadar, Bijoynagar and Akhaura upazilas, leaving an eight-km-long trail of destruction.
At least 1,000 families were affected by the twister, which also uprooted around 3,500 trees, ruined crops and destroyed houses.
