Families at Singair get money from Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday extended financial assistance to the families of those killed in Manikganj on Feb 24 during clashes with the police.
Four men were killed and several others injured when locals fought pitched battles with the police during a strike enforced by several Islamist parties.
Khaleda reached Singair’s Gobindal village on Saturday afternoon.
She went to the residence of Maulana Nasir Uddin and offered condolences to the bereaved family members. They said several pro-government men also took part in the attacks.
The BNP chief handed over cheques of Tk 200,000 each to four families of the deceased. She also gave financial assistance to the families of the injured.

Khaleda is expected to address a rally at a local school grounds and another at Charigram S A High School ground in the afternoon.

Her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said the BNP chief would return to Dhaka in the evening.
