Leaders
and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami brought out a brisk procession and
blasted four cocktails in Fakirerpool area of the capital Saturday
morning.
No one was reported injured, said Hayatuzzaman Mollah, officer-in-charge of the Motijheel Police Station.
The OC said over 150 Jamaat men brought out a procession in Fakirerpool area around 10:30am, demanding cancellation of death penalty for their Nayeb-e-Ameer Delawar Hossain Sayedee.
They also demanded immediate release of their all leaders, the OC said.
Being chased by police, the processionists fled the scene immediately after exploding four cocktails, he added.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 handed down death penalty to Sayedee on February 28 for his alleged crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
