Shahbagh spreads to Motijheel

In this February 25 photo, the demonstrators of Shahbagh movement hold a rally at Mirpur-10 in the capital demanding capital punishment to all war criminals and ban on Jamaat-Shibir.
The Shahbagh youths will hold a rally in the capital's commercial hub Motijheel area to press home their demand for the death penalty to war criminals Wednesday afternoon.
The rally, which is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm at Motijheel intersection, is expected to turn into a human sea as common people converge in every rally of the youths since the demonstration began on February 5.

The Shahbagh intersection, popularly known as Projonmo Chattar, like previous days is vibrating with revolutionary slogans and songs as the demonstration stepped into 23rd consecutive day on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the mass signature campaign, which began on February 22 in demand of death penalty to war criminals, resumed on Wednesday.
The 12-hour-long campaign resumes at 10:00am everyday. The campaign will continue till March 7.
In the meantime, people from all walks of life imbued with the spirit of '71 started to throng the Projonmo Chattar, prior to the Motijheel rally since the morning.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Shahbagh demonstrators cleared their stance saying that the Gonojagoron Mancha has never denigrated any religion and will never do so.
They also strongly condemned the radical forces for spreading anti-Islamic propaganda and shifting the blame onto them.
Addressing the demonstrators at the Projonmo Chattar, Imran H Sarker, convener of Blogger and Online Activist Network, said the anti-liberation forces were exploiting the religious sentiments of devotees for political gains.
The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the home minister demanding the immediate arrest of Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman for disseminating propaganda to disparage the Shahbagh movement.
On Monday, the demonstrators held a grand rally in the capital's Mirpur to press home their demand.
Tens of thousands of people joined the rally and took an oath to continue the movement until the war criminals are hanged and Jamaat-e-Islami and pro-Jamaat financial institutions are banned.
On Sunday, thousands of demonstrators hold a mass procession in the capital to protest the countrywide daylong shutdown called by eight Islamist parties.
People regardless of religion, cast and creed, leaders and activists of different student bodies, commuters, pedestrians and office goers joined the youths-led procession.
As part of their programme, the protesters held a grand rally at Rayerbazar Martyred Intellectuals' Memorial in the capital on Saturday.
The Shahbagh movement began on February 5, hours after Jamaat assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Mollah was sentenced to life in prison for rape, killing and genocide in 1971 during country's Liberation War.
Rejecting the verdict, Bloggers and Online Activist Network initiated the protest that soon turned into a mass movement.
Within a few days, it spread to other parts of the country and eventually abroad.
