ATM Azharul Islam
The
investigation agency of International Crimes Tribunals started
interrogating Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam at a safe home in the
capital Sunday morning for his alleged link with crimes against humanity
committed during the country's Liberation War.The quizzing of the Jamaat-e-Islami acting secretary general began around 10:00am at the safe home in the capital's Dhanmondi area, said Abdul Hannan Khan, coordinator of the investigation agency.
Earlier, he was taken to the safe home from Dhaka Central Jail.
The interrogation will continue till 5:00pm with a one-hour lunch break, Hannan added.
Earlier, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 had given the permission to the agency to interrogate the Jamaat leader in the war crimes case.
On August 22 last year, police arrested Azharul from his Moghbazar residence following an arrest warrant issued by the ICT-1.
