Parag Mondol
The
High Court on Monday directed the law enforcers to arrest five accused
in Parag Mondol abduction case, who were earlier granted bail by a lower
court, within 24 hours.The HC came up with the order a day after Judge Md Abdul Majid of the Dhaka District and Sessions Judge's Court cancelled their bail in the case.
While hearing a rule, the HC also exempted Judge Md Abdul Majid from personal appearance as he was summoned by the higher court for granting bail to the five accused on different dates in January and February.
The accused -- Aminul Haque alias Jewel Mollah, Alfaz Hossain, Mamun Miah, Rizvi Ahmed Anik and Abul Kashem -- were released from jail accordingly.
The HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik and Justice Mahmudul Hoque on Monday also directed the police authorities to submit a report to this court by February 24 after complying with the order of arrest.
Six-year-old Parag Mondol, a student of KG-I at Heed International School, was abducted at Shuvadda Paschim Para in Keraniganj on November 11, 2012. He was found three days later in Atibazar area of the locality.
The HC bench on February 13 summoned the judge and District Public Prosecutor (PP) Khandaker Abdul Mannan asking them to appear before it on February 20 for giving explanations why the were accused were granted bail in this sensational case.
On the same day, the court also issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain why the bail order should not be cancelled.
Following the HC order, the court of Abdul Majid on Sunday cancelled the bail of the five accused on Sunday.
While hearing the rule today, Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder informed the HC bench that the court of Majid has already cancelled the bail of the five accused in the case.
Hearing from the deputy attorney general, the court passed the arrest order and exempted the judge from the personnel appearance.
