Jamaat-e-Islami-backed 'Mukti Parishad' enforced 48-hour hartal is progressing peacefully in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday morning.
'Mukti Parishad', an organisation, demanding the release of war crimes accused Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Delawar Hossain Sayedee, has called the hartal protesting the Friday’s deaths of the three Jamaat-Shibir men in Cox's Bazar.
At least three Jamaat-Shibir men were killed and 50 others, including a few policemen, were injured during a gun battle between Jamaat-Shibir men and police on Friday in the town.
No untoward incident was reported till filing of the report around 09:50am.
Meanwhile, an indefinite ban on all gatherings (section-144) had been imposed in the town after the Friday’s clash.
Additional police, Rab and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel have been deployed in the town to avert any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami would enforce a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal on Monday to protest the deaths of the three activists, says a press release quoting Rafiqul Islam, the party's acting secretary general.
