War crimes suspect Delwar Hossain Sayedee's son and four others were remanded on Tuesday for three days each over January 28 cocktail blasts at the capital's Motijheel.
Detectives on Monday arrested Shamim Hossain Sayedee and his three associates at Uttara and Huji chief Mufti Abdul Hannan's brother Anisur Rahman in a separate drive in the capital on charges of planning subversive activities.
The three associates of Shamim are: Habibur Rahman, a teacher of Shanto-Mariam University; Mosharraf Hossain, a teacher of Bangladesh International Cadet Madrasa, and Abdur Rashid, owner of Colombia Travels International.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahrier Mahmud Adnan placed the five on remand when Kabir Hoshain Hawlader, investigating officer of the cocktail blast case, produced them before the magistrate with a seven-day remand prayer for each.
On January 28, a group of Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists brought out a procession demanding release of their top leaders on trail for crimes against humanity in Motijheel area.
When police resisted them, the processionists attacked the law enforcers, preventing them from discharging duties and blasted cocktails on police that left several policemen injured on the spot.
