5 killed in Barisal road crash

At least five people were killed and 25 injured as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Barisal-Bhola highway in Sadar upazila of the district Thursday morning.
Protesting the accident, locals vandalised two buses including the killer one, reports our Barisal correspondent.

Four of the deceased were identified as Meza, 26, a fourth year student of Barisal Government Brojo Mohan (BM) College, Munir, 27, a master student of the same institute, Jalil, 30, and Harun-or-Rashid, 60.
The accident occurred around 10:00am when the driver of a bus was providing side to another bus and skidded off the road in Dinererpole area, said Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Barisal Port Police Station.
In this situation, the driver lost his control over steering and fell down into a roadside ditch, the OC said.
Two of the victims died on the spot and 28 injured, the OC added.
Three more victims succumbed to their injuries at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, he added.
The bus was heading towards Charkawya bus stand in the upazila from Naharhat area
