In response to a writ petition, the court ordered the managing directors of Bakhrabad Gas and Titas Gas to submit a report within a week before the court after complying with the order.
The court directed the government to form a 6-member expert body to investigate the allegation of supplying gas lines.
It also ordered the committee to make a list of the people responsible for the illegal gas connection.
After holding hearing on the petition, the HC bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif directed the expert committee to submit the list before the court within four weeks.
The court also directed the managing director of Bakhrabad Gas and Titas Gas to submit a report mentioning number of gas connection from July 30, 2010 to till date and the consumption of gas before and after July 30, 2010.
The government on July 30, 2010 decided not to give any gas connection till further decision, the writ petition mentioned.
The court also issued a rule upon the government to explain in four weeks why supplying of gas lines should not be declared illegal and why it should not be directed to stop illegal connection.
Advocate Manzill Murshid submitted the writ petition in the morning on behalf of the Human Rights and Peace of Bangladesh seeking the HC directive on the government to take appropriate action against the corrupt government officials supplying gas lines violating the government decision.
The petitioner submitted the petition following two separate reports published on daily Prothom Alo on September 1 and 7 on illegal gas connection and the corruption of dishonest government officials.
