65 Jamaat-Shibir men sued in Ctg for Sunday's attack, vandalism; Satkania MP among the accused

wing Islami Chhatra Shibir in the capital, Chittagong and Rajshahi
Sunday night and Monday morning. Meanwhile, police also filed three cases against 65 Jamaat-Shibir men after the party activists rampaged through different places in the port city leaving five law enforcers injured on Sunday.
Jamaat lawmaker for Satkania constituency ANM Shamsul Islam and former lawmaker of the same constituency Shahjahan Chowdhury were accused in the cases which were filed with Panchlaish Police Station.
Of the total, 16 were arrested in Dhaka while 61 detained in Chittagong and three in Rajshahi.
In Dhaka, the law enforcers raided different areas in Mirpur-13 and arrested the 16 Jamaat-Shibir activists, said Abdul Latif, officer-in charge of Kafrul Police Station.
The Jamaat-Shibir men were arrested on charges of vandalism in Kafrul area on Sunday, the OC said.
He however did not give the details of the arrestees.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports, police detained 55 activists of Jamaat and Shibir raiding different dormitories and messes in the port city.
Of them, 13 activists were picked up from Sobur Hall of Chittagong Government College and 21 from Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College dormitory, said Tareq Ahmed, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
Detective Branch (DB) of police detained 21 more during another drive at a number of students' messes in Bakulia area of the city, the ADC added.
Police also nabbed six Jamaat-Shibir activists on Monday morning in Chandanaish upazila of Chittagong when Jamaat-e-Islami brought out a procession from Dohajari area of the upazila.
Our Rajshahi correspondent reports, police held three Jamaat-Shibir activists at Sonadighi intersection of the city Monday morning when they were trying to create anarchy after holding a procession.
On November 13, the Jamaat-Shibir men went on berserk in the capital and vandalised a number of vehicles including three news vans of ATN News, BRTC double-deckers, private cars, motorbikes and human haulers at Karwan Bazar in the capital and set fire to two police motorbikes.
They also attacked the law enforcers, leaving five of them injured.
On November 4, the Jamaat announced a nine-day agitation programme beginning from November 5 to press home its demand for the immediate release of the party's top leaders, including those facing war crimes trial.
During the last few days several hundred people including policemen and journalists were injured during clashes between the police and Jamaat-Shibir men across the country.
