BNP
Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday again reiterated her party’s demand
for restoring caretaker government system for holding the next general
election and said no other formula would work.“Give me one more chance, I promise I will change the picture of Bangladesh by massive development activities. If I fail to do so, I am ready to accept any punishment, you (people) grant," she said.
The leader of the opposition in parliament was addressing a rally at Bell's Park in Barisal.
“People are with us, we will create such a situation that the government will have nowhere to escape. No election will be allowed under the present government and incumbent prime minister," she said.
Calling the Awami League-led grand alliance "grand thief", the former prime minister said the Awami League was a party of fascists and thieves.
Referring to Monday's incident at Islamic University in Kushtia where Bangladesh Chhatra League activists injured 25 teachers of the university, Khaleda said none of the attackers were arrested.
Activists and supporters of BNP and its like-minded parties rushed towards the venue with banners and placards since morning, giving the city a festive look.
