Khaleda on way to Ukhia


Cox's Bazar, Nov 11  BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is on her way to Ukhia after visiting Ramu's Buddhist monasteries and houses damaged in the Sep 29 communal attacks.
The BNP chief left for Ukhia by road from Cox's Bazar Circuit House at 12 noon. BNP Vice President Selima Rahman is also travelling with her in the same car.
The religious bigots attacked Ramu's Buddhist community on Sept 29 and burned and looted many of their monasteries, houses and shops. The violence spread to Ukhia and Teknaf of Cox's Bazaar and Patia of Chittagong the next day.
The Opposition Leader on Saturday toured Ramu, the place where attacks were launched against minority Buddhists in September over a Facebook posting allegedly defamed Quran. She visited the damaged Buddhist temples and talked to the Buddhist community.
Khaleda alleged that the government was always trying to blame the BNP, Jamaat and other opposition parties when something unpleasant happens.
Khaleda assured to punish those responsible for the incident if voted to power.
The BNP chief is scheduled to visit Dipankar Buddha Bihar in Ukhia at 12 noon and later to address a rally at local high school filed.
BNP leaders said Khaleda will head for Chittagong in the evening.
