Chittagong, Nov 5 Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are appearing at this year's tests for admission at the Chittagong University, thanks to the technical glitches in a flawed online application system.
Anyone can get excited to have a look at the admit card of this year's first applicant Md Sabbir Hossain, who is appearing at the admission tests under Ka unit, as the card carries the photograph of none other than King Khan himself.
Similarly, the admit card of Md Ali Hasan, appearing at the admission tests for E unit, has the photograph of Katrina Kaif. Another applicant at the same unit, Nuzhat Ramisha Ekram's card carries the photograph of World's No. 1 all-rounder Sakib Al Hasan.
It happened so since anybody could upload photographs to the admit cards of any given roll No. online if it was the first attempt.
And once uploaded, there is no scope to change the photograph.
The university administration has, however, raised several eyebrows by deciding to go ahead with the admission tests with those very admit cards. In other words, the applicants will be carrying admit cards with photographs of King Khan or Katrina Kaif to examination halls, instead of their own.
In a notice on Sunday, the university authorities requested applicants to bringing their registration forms and two extra copies of their photographs for confirming their identity.
The tests are set to kick off from Nov 11 and many of the applicants appearing at the tests for admission to the nine units have had this unique experience.
An applicant, Belayet Hossain, who is sitting the tests for the second time, said, "Last year they had the chance to change the photograph if there was any mistake. But this year, they are helpless."
University's Vice Chancellor Anwarul Azim Arif said they had taken remedial steps.
Social Science Faculty Dean of the university Dr Gazi Saleh Uddin feared it could hamper a transparent admission process.
"The problem could have been avoided if everybody performed his duties well," said Gazi.
Dean of Law Faculty Zakir Hossain sees involvement of a syndicate for making money out of the admission through forgery. He referred to this year's Dhaka University admission tests to support his claim.
