Only caretaker govt, nothing else: Khaleda

Dinajpur, Sep 23 Opposition chief Khaleda Zia on Sunday announced that no system other than a non-party caretaker government will be acceptable during the elections.
"No formula will work out. The election has to be announced under a non-party government, not under any partisan government," Khaleda said at a rally at Boro Math in Dinajpur district town.
"Or else, a situation would be created where the government won't find any escape route," the BNP Chairperson threatened.
The BNP has been demanding reinstatement of caretaker government system ever since it was scrapped following a Supreme Court order last year. It is also threatening to forfeit any election not held under a non-party government.
The ruling Awami League leaders counter that incumbent government will perform the role of an interim government during the election. They have suggested a truncated, all-party Cabinet to oversee the election by an 'independent' Election Commission.
