In the May 7 photo, a group of BNP-led 18-party leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khandker Mosharraf Hossain and Sadeque Hossain Khoka is coming out of the High Court.
A Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred until October 31 the hearing on charge framing against BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 28 others in a case filed for aiding and abetting the bombings inside the Secretariat during a hartal on April 29.Judge Mohammad Zahurul Haque of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order after defence lawyers submitted a petition seeking an adjournment on the hearing.
In the petition, defence lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia told the court that seven accused including Col (Retd) Oli Ahmed could not appear before it as they were busy due to the ongoing parliament session.
He further said Mirza Fakhrul had earlier filed an appeal with the High Court challenging the legality of an order passed by the trial court on August 26 that had taken into cognisance the charges against the 29 opposition men.
But the hearing on the appeal remains pending, he said. So, he filed the time petition.
Mirza Fakhrul and 21 opposition men were present at the court.
Shahbagh police filed the case on the day of the bombings while Detective Branch of Police submitted the charge sheet on May 31.
