SUST Eng Dept students confine VC

SUST, Sep 26 The English Department students of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Wednesday put their administrative building under lock and key and confined the Vice Chancellor to demand removal of the department's Chairman.
After locking the Acting VC Ilias Uddin Bishwash at 11am, around 100 students started demonstrating outside carrying banners and chanting slogans against the department Chairman Dr Atiullah for his failure to publish results in time, holding regular classes, and nepotism.
University Proctor Himadri Shekhor Roy, along with other administrative officials, was waiting trapped inside the building.
Students who sat for their Honours final examinations in February last year are yet to have their results. The classes are also yet to resume in the department since the university reopened after the Eid-ul Fitr vacation on Aug 28.
A Masters student of the department, Reaz Md Khan, said they would continue their agitation until their department chief was removed.
The agitation has been going on since Sep 3.
