Dhaka, Sep 9 A Dhaka court on Sunday granted Destiny-2000 Director Abul Kalam Azad alias Mac Azad bail in a case that accuses him of embezzling and laundering funds of the multilevel marketing company. Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman's court heard his bail petition and granted him bail until police report on the case.
On Jul 31, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case at Kalabagan Police Station against 22 Destiny officials, including Azad, over embezzling and laundering Tk 11.78 billion from funds raised by the members of the company.
ACC prosecutor Abdur Rashid told bdnews24.com that police sought to remand Azad while his counsels pleaded for bail on Aug 28.
After a hearing on Sep 6, Metropolitan Magistrate Ismail Hossain dismissed both the petitions and sent Azad to jail, he said.
His counsels petitioned for his bail on Sunday again and won the judge's favour, he added.
