ACC sues Mridha, 2 railway officials in Ctg
Thursday, September 13, 2012 The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday filed six cases against the suspended general manager of the railway's east zone and two of its officials for their alleged link with irregularities in the department's recruitment process.
The cases were filed against Golam Kibria, senior welfare officer, Hafizur Rahman, additional chief of mechanical engineering section and suspended general manager Yusuf Ali Mridha.
SM Rashedur Reza, assistant director of the ACC, filed the cases with Chittagong Kotwali Police Station accusing the trio of involvement in massive irregularities in the recruitment process.
Earlier on August 14, the ACC filed two cases against the key figures of the railwaygate scandal-- Yusuf Ali Mridha, and Omer Faruq Talukder, sacked assistant personal secretary to former railway minister Suranjit Sengupta, in connection with earning wealth illegally.
Border guards detained the duo on April 9 at Pilkhana along with Enamul Huq, railway's Dhaka divisional security commandant, on a microbus that was reportedly carrying Tk 70 lakh to the residence of Suranjit Sengupta.
In August, the ACC had finished investigating six categories of corruption out of 25 after launching investigation into the alleged recruitment irregularities and illegal wealth of Bangladesh Railway officials.
