BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia
BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday claimed that a conspiracy is being hatched to murder party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.Citing an online magazine published from a foreign country, Mirza Fakhrul said that Khaleda's life is in danger, reports Prothom Alo.
It was not a baseless claim, the BNP leader said while addressing a discussion at Jatiya Press Club.
Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal organised the programme on the occasion of the jail-release day of Khaleda and her elder son Tarique Rahman, also the senior vice chairman of BNP.
Critising the government's decision to amend the Grameen Bank Ordinance, Mirza Fakhrul said the government wants to take the Grameen Bank to the level of Sonali Bank.
The BNP leader also condemned Bangladesh Chhatra League's attack on Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders at Dhaka University.
He mentioned that the JCD men came under the attack when they were waiting to meet the DU vice-chancellor on Monday.
As the VC has failed to create a congenial atmosphere on the campus, he should resign, Mirza Fakhrul said.
