Wednesday, September 19, 2012 Three activists of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), also charge-sheeted accused in a murder case, were arrested in Baghmara upazila of Rajshahi early Wednesday.
The arrestees are Mohammad Shamsuddin, 44, Towhidul Islam, 38 and Ismail Hossain, 48, reports our Rajshahi correspondent, as quoted in a Rab press release.
On information that the JMB activists are back after a long hideout, a team of Rab’s anti-militancy cell in the district picked them up from their houses at Konopara around 2:30am, Rab-5 Commanding Officer (CO) Maj SM Anwar Ali told The Daily Star.
The trio is charge-sheeted fugitive accused of Abu Taleb murder case filed with Baghmara Police Station, the CO said.
They are also accused in four criminal and extortion cases filed against them at different times with the police station, he added.
One Amjad Hossain filed the murder case in November 2009 for allegedly killing his uncle Abu Taleb of Sajuria village in Baghmara in 2004 for extortion.
The charge sheet of the case was submitted on September 10 this year.
Amjad alleged that the trio abducted Taleb, tortured him at a JMB camp in Hamirkutsa village in the upazila and demanded Tk. 75,000 ransom.
Taleb was released as his family paid Tk 35,000 selling their farmland, but the trio abducted him again after the family failed to pay the rest and since then Taleb has remained untraced.
