30 hurt in Bagerhat gunfight

 

At least 30 people were injured in a gunfight between two groups of villagers in Mollarhat upazila of Bagerhat Saturday morning over occupation of a large char land in the Madhumati River.
The clash ensued between the two groups of locals of Shingachhi village -- one led by Zahid Shikdar and another by Zinnah Shikdar -- around 9:45am, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting Mahfuzul Alam Russell, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in Bagerhat.
During the 45-minute long clash, around 60 pellets were exchanged, the ASP said.
All the injured were rushed to bordering Gopalganj Sadar Hospital from where four were shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as their condition was stated to be critical, the ASP added.
