Justice ATM Fazle Kabir
The
International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Monday said the government should
take measures to find out the persons responsible for hacking the
e-mails of former ICT-1 chairman Justice Md Nizamul Huq. The government should also take initiatives to put an end to the controversy over the leakage of Justice Nizamul's Skype conversation with Ahmed Ziauddin, Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, who replaced Justice Nizamul, said at the courtroom today.
Ahmed Ziauddin is an international criminal law expert, living in Belgium.
The e-mails and telephone conversations were hacked in a bid to hinder the ongoing war crimes trial, Justice Kabir said.
He further said Justice Nizamul resigned so that the controversy does not hamper the trial.
The government has also reconstituted the ICT-1 immediately for the smooth trial of the war crimes suspects, he added.
Justice Fazle Kabir made the comments six days after Justice Nizamul resigned on December 11 amid the controversy.
The court, which started the day's proceedings around 10:40am, was set to hear prosecution's arguments against war crime suspect and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam.
But the tribunal adjourned the hearing until December 19 following a prayer filed by the defence seeking a one-week adjournment of the hearing.
