Plea seeks arrest of Bishwajit killers in 24hrs

HC may hold hearing on the petition later in the day

A petition was filed with the High Court on Tuesday seeking its directive on the government to arrest the persons involved with the killing of Bishwajit Das within 24 hours.
The HC may hold the hearing on the petition later in the day.
A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League activists hacked to death Bishwajit near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka on his way to work during the 18-party called countrywide road blockade on Sunday.
Bishwajit, 24, died after he was taken to Mitford Hospital for treatment.
Nazim Ahmed, the editor of weekly Shoptoporno, filed the petition on Tuesday also seeking the HC order on the government to pay adequate compensation to the family members of Bishwajit.
The Shoptoporno editor filed the petition following a report published on The Daily Star today that named some BCL activists as the killers of Bishwajit.
The petitioner prayed to the court to declare 'illegal' the police's inaction in saving the life of Bishwajit and including the names of BCL men Rafiqul Islam, Noore Alam, Mahfuzur Rahman, Obaidhul Quader Emdadul Haque and many others in the Bishwajit murder case.
