No BCL link in Bishwajit killing, home boss reiterates

He agrees with Hanif that Khaleda might be arrested

In this December 9 photo, “Chhatra League activists” beat and hack a youth named Bishwajit, mistaking him for an opposition supporter in front of Victoria Park in Old Dhaka. Bishwajit died of his injuries later
Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Wednesday again dismissed the reports that activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) killed Bishwajit Das during the December 9 road blockade.
24-year-old Bishwajit, a tailor, was hacked to death by BCL men in Sutrapur area of Old Dhaka during the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance countrywide blockade.
“No BCL activist was involved in the killing (of Bishwajit)... we’ve enquired about it,” he told reporters after a function at the Rajarbagh Police Lines arranged marking the second founding anniversary of Police Blood Bank.
The home minister however said those were involved in the killing of Bishwajit will be brought to the book.
Asked about Awami League leader Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif remark to arrest Khaleda Zia, the minister said, “I agree with him as we’re working together in the government...those are involved in the acts of sabotage will be brought to the justice.”
Awami League joint general secretary Hanif on Tuesday said that no one is above law and opposition leader Khaleda Zia might be arrested, if necessary.
