Law enforcers picked up 39 activists of banned outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir after a clash with them in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Saturday.
At least 10 people were injured during the clash, police said.
Some 50 activists of the banned outfit tried to bring out a procession from in front of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) building near the press club at noon.
But police resisted them and charged batons on the Hizb ut-Tahrir activists to disperse them that triggered the clash, Soma Rani Saha, a sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station..
Police picked up seven people from the spot, the SI said.
A Rab team which joined police later also picked up 32 activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir from the scene, Captain Obhishek Ahmed, deputy director of legal and media wing of Rab headquarters, told The Daily Star.
