Sramik League leader held over Aminbazar students killing

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested one person in Bardeshi area in Savar upazila Friday night in connection with the murder of six students in Aminbazar.
The arrestee was identified as Ismael Hossain Refu, general secretary of Aminbazar union Sramik League.
Rab sources said on secret information they conducted a drive in the area and arrested Refu at about 9:00pm.
Refu has been shown arrested in the case filed over the sensational murder of six students during the Shab-e-Barat night at Keblar Char in Aminbazar in 2010.
Angered by the arrest, leaders and activists of Sramik League blocked Dhaka-Aricha highway at night.
However, the road blockade, which lasted for half an hour from 9:00pm, was removed by police intervention.
Early hours on July 18, 2011, six students were beaten to death and another injured by a mob at Bardeshi village in Aminbazar.
The dead are Tipu Sultan of Tejgaon College, Towhidur Rahman Palash, Kamruzzaman Kanto and Ibrahim Khalil of Mirpur Bangla College; Shams Rahim Shamam of Maple Leaf International School, and Sitaf Jabi Munif of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology.
