Former chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda
Former
chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda on Monday said election
commission is strong enough to hold the next general election in free
and fair manner. "There is no need to strengthen the election commission any more because it is strong enough to hold neutral polls," Huda said while addressing a seminar at Cirdap auditorium in the capital.
He said, “It is vital that the government does not interfere into the activities of the election commission.”
The former CEC also criticised the successive EC’s move to redraw the boundaries of constituencies ahead of the next parliamentary elections.
Shushasoner Janya Nagorik (Sujon), an NGO, organised the seminar with the title “Activities of Election Commission and Citizens’ Thoughts”.
