Detective
Branch (DB) of police arrested one more person in Chapainawabganj on
Monday night in connection with the gruesome murder of 24-year-old
tailor Bishwajit Das. With the arrest, the total number of arrestees in the killing stood at 11.
Emdadul was brought to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media center immediately after his arrest.
Emdadul Haque, was arrested from Swapnopuri Rest House in Chapainawabganj town Monday night, Gazi Rabiul Islam, assistant commissioner (media and community service) of DMP, told The Daily Star.
Emdadul, who completed his Master's Degree in Philosophy from Jagannath University (JnU) recently, was identified through photographs and video footage published and aired in the media, the DMP official said.
Earlier on December 23, three detained students of Jagannath University confessed to their involvement with the murder.
In their separate statements to a magistrate, the trio-- Rafiqul Islam Shakil, Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid and Rasheduzzaman Shaon -- also said they are activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Bishwajit Das was beaten and hacked to death by a group of Chhatra League activists in Old Dhaka on December 9 during the BNP-led 18-party alliance's countrywide road blockade.
