BNP Standing Committee Member Tariqul Islam on Monday claimed that top killers were being released from jail to foil opposition's demonstration and kill its leaders.
"Many have been apprehending that 11 more killers will be freed to this end," the BNP leader said, citing the release of top terror Bikash Kumar Biswas, who was secretly released from Kashimpur jail-2 on December 14 upon a bail order.
Tariqul Islam was addressing a press briefing at BNP's Naya Paltan central office on Monday.
As per the instruction of the prime minister and the home minister, those private killers have been implementing the undeclared state of emergency in the country, he added.
Prior to address the press briefing, Tariqul held a joint meeting with the party leaders.
The meeting also demanded unconditional release of the party leaders and activists including its acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
It discussed ways to make December 26 public relation programme of the party successful.
