The six-hour long hartal in Sirajganj and dawn-to-dusk hartal in Natore were progressing without any major untoward incident on Monday.
Local Jamaat unit enforced the hartal in Sirajganj protesting the deaths of a party activist in a clash with Awami League men during BNP-led 18-party alliance's countrywide road blockade on Sunday.
On the other hand, local BNP unit called the dawn-to-dusk hartal in Natore protesting the arrest of its leader Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu early Sunday.
Our Sirajganj correspondent reports, the hartal that began at 6:00am is being observed partially since all kinds of vehicles except private cars were seen plying the town roads.
Vehicular movement on all the highways in the district also remained normal during the hartal, which was called after Jamaat activist Wares Ali, 60, was killed in a clash between 18-party alliance activists and pro-government activists at Enayetpur.
All the educational institutions and business establishments remain open.
No untoward incident took place until 12 noon when this report was updated.
Meanwhile, police Sunday night arrested four BNP activists at their residences in Hossenpur and Mirpur area of the district for creating chaos during Sunday's blockade.
Our Natore correspondent adds, local BNP called the daylong hartal after Dulu was arrested at his Alaipur residence early Sunday.
Pickets exploded a cocktail and vandalised a motorcycle at Alaipur in the town around 10:10am on Monday but no injury was reported.
Later, around 11:15am, the 18-party alliance men brought out a procession led by Aminul Haque, president of Natore district BNP unit, in the area.
No long-distance bus was entered or left the district, suspending road communication of Natore with the other parts of country including Dhaka.
The educational institutions in the town remained closed. Most of the offices remain opened but presence of staff was very thin.
Dulu was arrested on charges of attacking Palash Das, the Jubo League joint convener of the town unit, who was injured during a gunfight between BNP and Jubo League on Saturday.
Palash has been undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
