Cuet shut fearing violence

Classes to resume on November 12

The authorities of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) on Wednesday closed the university fearing violence between two groups of students.
The authorities asked the male students to vacate all the dormitories by 5:30pm on Wednesday while female students to vacate by 10:00am Thursday.
The Cuet authority at an academic council meeting also decided to reopen the university on November 12.
The decision came in the afternoon following general students protest before the vice chancellor’s office since morning demanding punishment of a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist who physically assaulted a general student.
On Tuesday, Naimul Islam, a 2nd year student also a BCL activist beat Bappy up, as Bappy requested him not to smoke inside a Cuet bus.
