Manikganj, Oct 7 At least 3 people, including a child, died and three others were injured when the microbus carrying them collided head on with a truck on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Manikganj Sadar Upazila on Sunday.
The victims were on their way from Faridpur to Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Golra Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdul Mannan told bdnews24.com.
The deceased were identified as Nurul Haque, 35, Abdur Razzak, 38, and Sujon Mia, 11. All of them were from Faridpur Sadar Upazila.
The accident occurred in Muljan area at 7:30am, the police officer said.
"The truck smashed the microbus and then fell in a roadside ditch. Three of the microbus passengers died on the spot," Mannan said.
Two of the injured were taken to Manikganj Sadar Hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital later, Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said.
The bodies were sent to the Manikganj Sadar Hospital's morgue for autopsy, he added.
