‘BNP won’t join polls with Hasina as head of interim govt’

The BNP-led 18-party alliance leaders on Wednesday reiterated that they would not participate in the next parliamentary election keeping the incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as head of the interim government.
The opposition leaders also blasted the ruling government for its alleged barrier to some private television from covering the prime minister’s programmes.
“The present government must fall due to its innumerable incidents of failure. I will urge people not to scare and go ahead with courage,” BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed said prior to a mass procession in front of the BNP central office at the city’s Naya Paltan.
Moudud also alleged that the Anti-Corruption Commission was working like subservient of the government.
“I believe the just visited World Bank team will also understand that,” he added.
BNP-led 18-party alliance earlier declared to hold mass processions across the country on Wednesday to press home their demand for the restoration of the caretaker government system, and to protest the government repression on the opposition leaders.
