Abdul Muktadir
A
Cox's Bazar court on Thursday placed Abdul Moktadir, a key 'instigator'
of Ramu violence, and his friend Omar Faruk on a four-day remand each
for fuelling violence in Ramu of Cox's Bazar that later spread to
Chittagong. Senior Judicial Magistrate Touhidul Haque passed the order after Detective Branch of police of Cox's Bazar sought a 10-day remand each for Moktadir and Faruk, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
Police on Tuesday night detained Abdul Moktadir on charge of displaying and distributing among locals some Facebook images insulting the holy Quran on the evening of September 29 in Ramu.
On the other hand, Faruk was shown arrested on October 9 for creating enmity among Muslim and Buddhists communities, demeaning religious feeling of a quarter and fanning violence, said Basu Dutta Chakma, officer-in-charge of DB Cox's Bazar.
