Riding on a century from skipper Anamul Haque Bangladesh beat Pakistan by five wickets in the 7th-8th place play-off match of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Australia Friday.
Anamul smashed a brilliant hundred. He scored 128 off 27 balls to chase the target of 236 set by Pakistan at Endeavour Park No. 2 in Townsville, Queensland.
Bangladeshi openers made a solid start before the departure of Litton Das, who scored 53. Middle order batsman Asif Ahmed was not out on 12.
Bating first, Pakistan scored 235 losing eight wickets in the limited 50 overs.
Mohammad Nawaz scored highest 82 off 86 balls while Shahid Ilyas and Faraz Ali scored 44 and 43 for Pakistan.
Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed took three wickets while Dewan Sabbir and Al-Amin got two wickets each.
Earlier, the junior tigers suffered a 4-wicket loss against England in the 5th place play-off match that followed their quarter-final defeat against Australia.
On way to the quarterfinal, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 25 runs and Namibia by seven wickets while lost to South Africa by huge 133 runs.
On the other hand, Pakistan following their subsequent loss in the 5th-6th place play-off against the West Indies after being thrown away from semi-final equations by India.
