A man was stabbed to death and his father and brother injured following a quarrel over trivial matter in Sirajganj Sadar upazila early Friday.
Police arrested two persons in this connection.
The deceased is identified as Sabuj Akanda, 25, son of Seraj Ali Akanda of Chargachabari village in the upazila, reports our Sirajganj correspondent.
The injured Seraj Ali Akanda, 50 and Nur Mumammad Akanda, 23 were rushed to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
Syed Shahid Alam, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station, told The Daily Star that a quarrel developed between Sabuj and his neighbour Abdur Rashid a few days ago when a cow of Sabuj damaged a "dhancha" field of Rashid.
As a sequel to the quarrel, a group of people equipped with local weapons and led by Rashid attacked Sabuj at his house around 4:00am.
Hearing his scream, two brothers of Sabuj rushed to his (Sabuj) room to save him and also came under attack, the OC said.
The group indiscriminately stabbed and beat the three brothers.
Locals rushed the trio to the hospital, but Sabuj succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.
On information, police recovered the dead body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
Police arrested Altaf Hossain, 45, and Amirul Islam, 25, two associates of Rashid of neighbouring Panchasona village, in this connection.
A case was lodged.
