Photo: Star In Narsingdi, a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Morjal in Raipura upazila around 8:30am, killing three people on the spot and injuring 20 others.
Nannu, a sub-inspector of Sylhet-Narsingdi Highway Police, said the Dhaka-bound bus plunged off a bridge breaking its railing after colliding with the Bhairab-bound truck.
One of the deceased was identified as Shamsul Haque, 62, reports our Narsingdi correspondent.
Being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and rushed the injured to Narsingdi District Hospital.
Drivers of both the vehicles managed to flee.
In Comilla, three people including a couple were killed and two injured as a covered van rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Burichang upazila of the district, UNB reports.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Highway police said a Chittagong-bound covered van from Brahmanbaria hit a three-wheelers coming from opposite direction at Saheber Bazar at about 7:00am, leaving its three passengers dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured auto-rickshaw driver and a child were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Police recovered the bodies but could not seize the covered van.
Our Faridpur correspondent reports, two people were killed and 10 injured as a speeding bus crashed into a pickup van on Dhaka-Barisal highway at Basagari in Nagarkanda upazila around 9:15am, Abdul Karim, officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda Police Station, said.
The deceased were identified as Shariful Islam Bakul, 22, of Ambikapur village in Faridpur town and Jahangir Kabir, 40, of Kundapasha village in Jhalakati district.
The injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
