Nuhash, sisters stay off Nuhash Palli Iftar


Gazipur, Aug 16  Humayun Ahmed's son and daughters from his first marriage would not attend the Iftar programme at Nuhash Palli organised by a memorial organisation dedicated to the recently deceased celebrated author.
However, his second wife Meher Afroze Shaon and her relatives will be attending the programme on Thursday.
The preparation for the programme is on at full swing since morning at the retreat built by the writer himself.
Convenor of the Humayun Ahmed Smriti Shangshad, Gazipur's Advocate Nurul Amin told bdnews24.com that the daughters from Humayun's first marriage Nova Ahmed, Shila Ahmed, Bipasha Ahmed and son Nuhash Ahmed were scheduled to attend attend the Iftar programme. "But they later informed that they cannot come due 'unavoidable circumstances'.
"However, Humayun's second wife Shaon and their two sons, her mother Tohura Ali MP, Annya Prakash Publisher's Executive Director Mazharul Islam's wife Tanjina Rahman will attend the programme."
Shaon's father Engineer Mohammad Ali told bdnews24.com that he would not be able to attend the programme as he was busy before the Eid.
Mazharul Islam of Annya Prakash, the publishing house that published most of Humayun's books, also will not attend for the same reason.
Nuhash Palli's Manager Saiful Islam Bulbul said, "Madam Shaon arrived at Nuhash Palli around 2pm."
Humayun Ahmed was buried on July 24 at Nuhash Palli, five days after his death in New York while under treatment for colon cancer. The memorial platform was formed on Aug 9 in the presence of Humayun's daughters.
A nine-strong committee was formed on that day headed by Nurul Amin.
Mohammad Ali also said that Shaon might be staying at Nuhash Palli during Eid this year.
