Body to probe ‘pushed people off trains’ incidents


Saturday, August 11, 2012 The government has formed a probe committee to investigate into the recent incidents of pushing people off trains, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said on Saturday.
The minister said this while talking to journalists after visiting Meerer Gaon in Gazipur Sadar upazila, reports a correspondent from Gazipur.
The three-member committee headed by Joint Secretary of Railways Ministry Md Mostafa, has been asked to submit the report in 15 working days.
The other members of the committee are railway's Additional Director General (ADG) Mohammad Shahjahan and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohammad Sohrab Hossain.
Earlier on Thursday, police recovered three bodies near Dhaka-Rajshahi rail line in Gazipur.
Quader also asked law enforcers to take stern actions against extortionists on the highways before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Mentioning the prime minister’s zero tolerance policy towards extortion, he termed extortion one of the main reasons behind traffic jam, the minister said administrative actions must be taken against them.
The minister also caught a driver for not having legal documents and ordered the authorities concerned to take steps against him.
Quader also visited the Joydevpur Railway Station and expressed dissatisfaction over the cleanliness of restroom and the premises of the station.
The minister also talked to the commuters and discussed various problems regarding the communications across the country.
