Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Police on Tuesday arrested a poacher along with eight kilograms of venison in Mongla upazila on Bagerhat.
Police identified the arrestee as Jahangir Fokir, 42, son of Kayem Uddin Fokir of Khankarerber village in the upazila.
On secret information, Mongla police conducted a raid at Joymoni and arrested Jahangir along with eight kilograms of venison around 11:30am.
Jahangir and his two accomplices hunted the deer and slaughtered it to sell its hide and venison.
Sheikh Monirul Gias, officer-in-charge of Mongla Police Station, confirmed the incident.
