Wednesday, August 8, 2012 Former Islami Oikya Jote leader Shaikhul Hadith Allama Azizul Haque died of old-age complications at his Azimpur residence in the city on Wednesday. He was 94.Azizul Haque, ex-chairman of the undivided Islami Oikya Jote and ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, is survived by his wife, seven daughters, five sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
He was not seen in politics for the last four years due to his prolonged ailment.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her profound shock at the death of Azizul Haque.
In a condolence message, she prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family members.
