“I will win the election if it ends like the way it began, peacefully,” 14-party alliance Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran told reporters after casting his vote at Sylhet Govt Pilot Boys High School centre around 9:00am.
Ariful Haque Chowdhury, the 18-party opposition alliance candidate also said the same.
Ariful was speaking to journalists after casting his ballot in the city’s Raynagar Government Primary School around 8:45am.
Both the candidates were happy at the peaceful start of the voting.
A number of 127 polling stations have been set up for 2,91,046 voters. Of the centres, 62 have been considered as vulnerable.
Three candidates are vying for the mayoral post, 139 for 27 councillor posts while 35 for the councillor posts (reserved) in the Sylhet City Corporation.
